Scope

Sustainability Assessment is a process by which organizations evaluate how their activities create sustainable development profiles and signatures.

Sustainability Assessment is a structured process for evaluating the present performance of an organization in the Economic, Environmental and Social dimensions and to also measure and evaluate the readiness of the organization to withstand future challenges.

Sustainability assessments are needed to address the economic, social and environmental interdependencies within policies, plans, legislation and projects, in order to complement and extend other assessment and decision-making processes and enable a more inclusive and informed decision-making.

Sustainability assessment needs to integrate issues and seek to assess the cumulative and synergistic impacts of decisions and management practice, and subsequently facilitate comprehensive decision-making in order to deliver greater certainty, transparency and accountability of decision-making.

The Assessment steps cover the areas of Vision, Policy & Culture evaluation, evaluation of the organizations strategic and operational management structure and their linkages to the results achieved.

The organizations like Volkswagen AG, UNAXIS, UBS etc. have successfully used Sustainability Assessments to ensure that continual improvements in internal processes and learning and development helps in boosting the Triple Bottom Line performance.
