Compendium of Donor Assisted Projects in The Environment Sector in India

The "Compendium on Donor-Assisted Projects in the Environment Sector" takes stock of the nature and type of external assistance to India in all areas related to the environment. It is a snap-shot in time (1995-2000) of around 400 different activities totaling nearly $10 billion in donor assistance underway in the general areas of:

Agriculture & Natural Resources Management
Industry & Energy
Urban Infrastructure
Environmental Health & Education, Environmental Policy Reform,Capacity-building, and Environmental Assessment

Climate Change and Montreal Protocol (ozone depleting substances)

The Compendium provides a ready reference to environment-related donor assistance across all sectors and regions. It illustrates patterns that may not be readily apparent and suggests gaps where additional activity may be warranted.

The Environment Management Division (EMD) of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) conducted the primary data search and analysis for this study and the World Bank funded the same. Data was collected from over twenty donor agencies, multilateral and bilateral, active in the above areas. It is expected that the report will be updated periodically, and revised to include feedback and suggestions received.
