CII – MoEF Workshop on Municipal Solid Waste Management & Plastics
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment & Forests has organized a series of one day workshop on “Municipal Solid Waste Management & Plastics” at New Delhi, Bhubneshwar, Bangalore and Pune in August , 2006. The objectives of the Workshop were to:
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Thiru A. Raja - India’s Minister of Environment & Forests - said the theme was very appropriate for India which has over 127 million hectares of arid / semi-arid land spread across 10 states, and amounting to 39% of the country’s land area. |

Build awareness on legislation and best practices to deal with MSW
(including Plastics & E-waste) |

Highlight and deliberate on some of the burning topics such as waste to energy options, financing of municipal infrastructure, waste management and climate change, |

Showcase technology on diesel from waste plastics and other ecofriendly management practices. |

The Workshops were inaugurated by Mayor of the City. Speakers from Ministry of Environment & Forests, Planning Commission, Central Pollution Control Board, World Bank, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency, ICLEI-South Asia, Municipal Corporation of concerned city and Indian Centre for Plastic and Environment participated in the Workshops. |
