Environmental Management System as per ISO 14001

The Ministry of Environment & Forests intends to adopt the ISO 14001- an Environmental Management System for its office building- Paryavaran Bhawan at CGO complex Lodi Road , New Delhi . The certifiable standard (ISO 14001) enables to establish an effective environmental management system in the premises in order to achieve continual improvement of environmental performance and accrue resource savings. Paryavaran Bhawan, is committed to establishing and maintaining Environmental Management System (EMS) conforming to the requirements of ISO 14001 - 2004.
 

A Management Committee chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Environment & Forests Dr. Prodipto Ghosh reviews the progress of the Environmental Management System. Mr. Sudhir Mital, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment & Forests has been appointed as Management Representative (MR). A Core Group (CG) was set up drawing members from different departments and functions. Main responsibility of the CG is to take a lead in design and implementation of EMS. CII, Environment Management Division facilitates ISO 14001 at Paryavaran Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

We, at the Union Ministry of Environment & Forests are engaged in formulating and implementing policies and instruments for environment, forests and wildlife protection. At the Paryavaran Bhawan which houses this Ministry, we accord the highest priority to the protection of the environment and conservation of resources in our premises.
